Bellarmine College Preparatory
Speech and Debate
Emory - 01/27/06 - 01/29/06
Hi all. One of my favorite things to hear at a tournament that the Bells usually don't attend is "Who are these guys?" Thirteen Bells earned a few of those this weekend at the Barkley Forum held each year (for fifty years) at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Hundreds of students from 32 states competed and it was an excellent opportunity to get a preview of superior competitors from the East and the South. Please congratulate the following students, who not only represented Bellarmine well, but battled major sleep deprivation, apparently another tradition of this tournament. Thanks.
Original Oratory
First Ananth Srinivasan
Quarters Patrick Go
Quarters Cameron Suhr
Extemporaneous
Semifinalist Phill Baker
Semifinalist Nihar Shah
Student Congress
Finalist JP Padilla
Lincoln Douglas Debate
Double-Octa finalist Bobby Holley
(What was interesting is that there were 170 LD Debaters and of the top 32, 9 were from the San Jose area. We thought that was pretty cool.)
